THE PURPOSE OF THE TECH YOUTH PROJECT

--To get youth exposed and actively involved in athletics

--To have youth to be a part of athletics regardless of abilities or experience

--To have youth to participate in an encouraging environment that will get them excited about athletics, have fun participating, and will encourage them to stay engaged in them for years to come

--To encourage the multi-sport athlete

--To help athletics grow in the Portland Public Schools and the Portland Interscholastic League

HOW DO THE SEASONAL SPORTS CLINICS WORK

The Tech Youth Project Clinics will happen 3 times a year (Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons).  These will be one day clinics in which you can sign your child up for 1 sport for them to participate in.  All skill levels are welcome and are a great way to introduce your child to different sports.  They are also a great way to expose your child to the high school sports environment, meet the Benson Tech Coaches, and get a better understanding of The Benson Tech Athletic Department and how it can be a great choice for your child.  The clinics for 2022-2023 are listed below:

The PIL Open presented by The PIL Foundation

Go to pilathletics.com for more information and registration

The PIL Open Golf Tournament is a fundraiser conducted by the PIL Foundation to generate resources to support Portland Public Schools (PPS) student athletes. Nearly one in three PPS students, grade 6-12, participate in PIL athletic programming. Over the past 9 years, the PIL has grown from providing opportunities for 5,500 student-athletes to providing opportunities for over 13,000 student-athletes. With the continual expansion of athletic opportunities, there is greater need for additional resources.

Thank you for supporting the goals of our foundation and more importantly for potentially changing the trajectory of one of Portland’s youth.

Justin Delany, PIL Foundation Board Chair Marshall Haskins, PIL Athletics District Athletic Senior Director

KEY PROGRAM FUNDING AREAS: • PIL Youth Sports Program (PILYSP) • College Access Program (assisting PIL seniors to participate in collegiate athletics) • Equity funding for low SES schools to support historically underserved populations • Growth and expansions of opportunities (LaCrosse, Soccer, and Softball in low SES communities) Thank you for consideration of supporting the goals of our foundation and more importantly for potentially changing the trajectory of one of Portland’s youth.

FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBERS: Justin Delaney, Board Chair Charlene Wilson, Treasurer Bobbie Regan, Secretary Julia Brim-Edwards, Board Member Tony Hopson, Board Member Anthony Levrets, Board Member
